Pipe Band Tuition

At Aberdeen Music Lessons we are delighted to offer a centre of excellence for pipe band studies, including individual tuition and group lessons.

We are fortunate to have a dedicated team of highly experienced and successful tutors who are passionate about their art. We also offer master classes with some of the world’s top players, educators and composers.

In addition to individual tuition we will be running classes which will allow students to achieve PDBQ certificates and onto higher awards such as instructor certificates.

Our principal piping and Drumming tutors are Neil Selbie, James Campbell, Gus McAskill and Graham G Brown

Grahame G Brown

Graham brings with him a wealth of experience gained over the last 50 years. Graham is available to teach all musical idioms of the Great Highland Bagpipe with a particular emphasis on Piobaireachd for those preparing for the Scottish Qualification Authority Examinations, a skill much needed in the Aberdeen area.

Whilst Graham has influenced many in his teaching, it is fair to highlight his young son Calum; who is without doubt his greatest achievement and probably the greatest piping talent to come from Aberdeen for many years

The Tutors influencing Graham during these 50 years demonstrate the depth of his diversity and experience; P/M John Stewart, P/M David C Duncan, P/M R B Nicol of Balmoral, and currently Dr. Jack Taylor President of the Piobaireachd Society. Other major influences on Grahams Piping achievements include Bessie Brown (Banchory), Sandy Robertson (Culter), Donald MacPhereson (Glasgow) and P/M J K Mac Donald (Bucksburn Pipe Band).

Grahams Pipe Band experience covers all Grades including 10 years with Bucksburn and District Pipe Band in Grade1. Graham was also P/Sgt. of the Aberdeen Boys Brigade Battalion Pipe Band gaining 1 st Place in Grade 4 at the World Pipe Band Championships.

Graham is also available to play at Weddings, Funerals and Functions.
